haha, just realised that i had a whole lot of spelling mistakes around in my blog, but am too lazy to correct them... i've really lousy typing skills... :P
having free time again, should really be preparing for our cultural item, but then we really have no idea what to do... i mean, we are in singapore, what kinda culture is there? kiasu culture? some hc person even wanted to do PCK... god, i'd rather just drop dead then face the embarrassment... :(
haha, ends up we are gonna do rain dance plus sing "Home" and dunno what else... we are sooo pathetic.. :$
yesterday was a slacky day. in the morning had 2 lectures, these 2 were, really good! one was by a physicists who talked lots about neutrons and their uses, i'm pretty impressed now. he is part of the team that invented some interesting bomb detector that accurately detect bombs. currently, bomb detectors attempt to detect the wiring and batteries in bombs, not very good cuz those can be easily concealed. this new method, works on the principle that 90% of explosives contain an unusally high amount of nitrogen, so it bombards the object with neutrons, and N15 is unstable and releases gamma rays of a certain wavelength that can be accurately measured everytime. and it can determine really small amounts of such nitrogen, hence is able to accurately detect bombs. cool huh? :P
next, was the staffies lecture! its a lecture by our wonderful and sweet mentors! :D they were great, must have been the most amusing lecture ever! :) they made ice cream for us in front of us, using lots and lots of liquid nitrogen... :P then, we had interesting demos of how angular momentum is very strong. its really long to try to describe the experiments, so just take my word for it being fun... ;) hmmm, then had demonstrations of how liquid nitrogen can shatter plants, and then one mentor poured it onto his hand and everyone squealed cuz we thot his hand was gonna shatter too! but he told us that cuz his hand is warm, so when the nitrogen first comes into contact with his hand, it evaporates and forms a cushion of air, insulating his hand, so it doesn't freeze and shatter. smart. then there are a few more experiments and they were cool...
after lunch, had free time to do our project, was rushing so nick and i could play com at nite... :)
then had a talk by this Nobel Prize Winner... you can just tell he is quite smart. unfortunately, i think he caught me sleeping for a second and wasn't too happy. cuz at the end of the lect, he went like, "I think i shall end now since some of u are sleeping" while looking in my direction... oops. haha, after dinner, more project and then we played sim city! :) played till so late, but was damn tired, so i just fell asleep quite promptly at 2am... had a nice sleep... :P
anyway, claire, dun worry abt pimple face... she is gross. i feel like puking after finding out that she likes me... :S its not flattering. well, at least better than Ms *I'm fat and i like to bare it all for u to see*... ;)
